Malaysian Modern & Contemporary Art Auction 2012 Sets New Record


The Malaysian Modern & Contemporary Art Auction 2012 sold over RM2.4 million worth of artworks by Malaysian masters including Abdul Latiff Mohidin, Khalil Ibrahim, Datuk Syed Ahmad Jamal, Dato’ Tay Mo Leong, Ismail Latiff and Kwan Chin, just to name a few.
The auction had 108 artworks up for auction and achieved 90% in sales with some new record in value set this time around. Guests and bidders who attended witnessed the sales of top-selling masterpieces including, Yusof Ghani’s oil on canvas, “Siri Tari II” (1984-1985) at RM209,000 and Ismail Latiff’s acrylic and mixed media on canvas, “Cermin Alam… Biarcan Cahaya Bicara” (1997) at RM52,800. The highest piece sold was Abdul Latiff Mohidin’s oil on canvas, “Landscape Rimba” (1995) which fetched a record breaking, RM 715,000.
KL Lifestyle Art Space’s second auction was held at Nusantara Ballroom, Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur on December 2.
